Mr Shun-ichiro OKANO , IOC Member, attended the XIX World Karate Championships being held in Tokyo.
He met with Mr. Hasumi, the JKF Vice-President and Mr. George Yerolimpos, the WKF General Secretary and other important Karate personalities. After the tournament he awarded medals to the winners of the male and female team kumite, male Kata and female Kata.

The Opening Ceremony of the XIX World Senior Karate Championships is going to take place in a few minutes in the city of Tokyo, Japan. Between other important guests we have the honour to share this important moment with Mr. Okano, IOC Member and Mr Jean-Laurent Bourquin, from the IOC Administration who are kindly attending the XIX World Senior Championships, as Karate is one of the candidate sports to be included in the Olympic Programme in 2016.
